Nine out of ten eSIM problems come down to one small setting. Start with the three quick checks below, then jump straight to your symptom.
Is data roaming ON for your JamboSim line? An eSIM abroad always needs roaming enabled — this is the number one cause of "no internet".
Is your JamboSim line selected for mobile data ? Your phone can show full bars on your home line while data still runs through the wrong SIM.
Did you toggle Airplane mode off and on (or restart the phone) after installing? The eSIM needs one fresh network search to register.
Every fix below is a 30-second setting change. Work through them top to bottom.
Turn Airplane mode on, wait 10 seconds, turn it off again — this forces a fresh network scan. Open your mobile settings, select the JamboSim line and set Network selection to Automatic. If it stays empty, pick a supported network manually. Still nothing after 2 minutes? Restart the phone once; the eSIM profile only registers after a full reboot on some Android models.
Check that Mobile data is switched to the JamboSim line — not your home SIM. Switch Data roaming ON for the JamboSim line. Without roaming, an eSIM abroad connects to the network but gets no data. If it still fails, enter the APN manually — that's the number one fix on Android.
On the same phone: press and hold the QR code image — your phone recognises it and starts the eSIM install straight away. Or open the QR code on a second screen (laptop, tablet) or print it, then scan it with your camera. Clean the camera, increase screen brightness and hold the phone 15-20 cm away. Still no luck? Use the manual install details (SM-DP+ address and activation code) from your eSIM page instead.
An eSIM profile can only be installed once. If you already installed it, it is on your phone — check your list of mobile plans for a line called JamboSim. QR code refused? Try the manual installation instead — you'll find the SM-DP+ address and activation code in My eSIMs. Still stuck after the manual install? Contact support and we'll reissue a fresh profile. Never factory-reset or wipe your phone with an active eSIM installed — the profile is lost with it.
Some phones reset roaming per line after an update. Open the JamboSim line settings and re-enable Data roaming . Turn off Low Data Mode and any battery saver — both can block background data. Disable Wi-Fi while testing so you know the data really comes from the eSIM.
A travel eSIM is data-only: keep your home SIM active for calls and SMS, and set the JamboSim line as your default for data only . Label the lines (Home / JamboSim) so you always see which one is doing what. Want to keep calling on your own number without roaming costs? Use WiFi calling.
Add a new APN manually for the JamboSim line and set it as the active APN — Android often refuses to auto-fill it for eSIMs. Leave username and password empty and set APN type to default, supl . Reboot once after saving, then turn Wi-Fi off to test.
Regional plans work only in the countries listed on the plan page — check the coverage list for your exact destination. In a covered country, your phone may still cling to a network the plan doesn't include: set network selection to manual and pick another operator. Border areas are tricky — your phone can latch onto a network across the border that isn't covered.
On Unlimited plans a fair-use policy applies: after 3 GB per day the speed is reduced until the next day. It resets automatically. On a fixed data bundle, check your remaining data — when it's empty you stay connected but without usable speed. Out of data? Add a top-up and you're back at full speed within minutes.
Your phone must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked — check the compatibility list. Dial *#06# and look for an EID number: no EID means no eSIM support. Bought the wrong plan for an unsupported phone? Contact us within 30 days and we'll help.
