The single most common issue. Your eSIM uses a foreign network, so it counts as roaming - even though you bought a local plan.
Fix: iPhone: Settings → Mobile Data → tap your JamboSim eSIM → toggle Data Roaming ON Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → JamboSim → toggle Roaming ON
Jambo tip: This won't cost you extra. Your bundle is already prepaid - "roaming" is just how the phone labels it.
Most modern phones run two SIMs at once. If your home SIM is still the default for data, your eSIM sits idle.
Fix: iPhone: Settings → Mobile Data → Mobile Data → choose your JamboSim line Android: Settings → SIMs → Mobile data → choose JamboSim
Sounds obvious, but it's the 2 reason for "no signal" calls to support.
Fix: Swipe down from the top of your screen and turn Airplane Mode OFF. Wait 10 seconds, then turn it ON and OFF again to force the phone to scan for networks.
The APN (Access Point Name) tells your phone how to talk to the data network. Most eSIMs set it automatically, but sometimes it doesn't stick.
Fix: Check your activation email - we send the exact APN for your bundle. You can also find it anytime in My eSIMs or see our full APN settings guide. Then: iPhone: Settings → Mobile Data → JamboSim → Mobile Data Network → enter the APN Android: Settings → SIMs → JamboSim → Access Point Names → add new
Not sure what your APN should be? You can find the exact APN settings for your eSIM anytime in My eSIMs - just tap your eSIM and look under Network Settings.
Some bundles start counting from the moment they connect to a local network. If you tested it at home, you may have used a day or two already.
Fix: Check the validity in My eSIMs. If you've burned days, you can top up or buy a fresh bundle - usually cheaper than you'd expect.
Jambo tip: Install the eSIM at home, but only enable it after you land. Best of both worlds.
Some travel eSIMs are 4G-only. If your phone is locked to 5G, it might refuse to connect.
Fix: iPhone: Settings → Mobile Data → JamboSim → Voice & Data → choose LTE or 4G Android: Settings → SIMs → JamboSim → Preferred network type → 4G/LTE
Easy to miss. After scanning the QR code, you still need to enable the line.
Fix: iPhone: Settings → Mobile Data → tap the JamboSim line → Turn On This Line Android: Settings → SIMs → toggle JamboSim ON
Mountains, basements, dense city blocks, that one beach in Indonesia. Sometimes it's the network, not you.
Fix: Walk 50 meters in any direction or step outside. If your phone shows the right operator name in the status bar, the eSIM is working - the signal just isn't there yet.
Check the supported networks for your destination on the country page before you travel.
eSIM profiles are one-time installs. If you tried to scan the same QR code on two devices, the second one will fail silently.
Fix: Delete any half-installed eSIM profile from your phone, then resend the QR from your JamboSim dashboard. We can issue a fresh code for free in most cases.
If the installation doesn't work via the QR code, manual installation often does. You can find the instructions under My eSIMs.
Yes, really. The classic "turn it off and on again" fixes more eSIM issues than any other step. Your modem chip needs to re-handshake with the local tower, and a reboot forces a clean start.
Fix: Full power off (not just lock screen) → wait 30 seconds → power on. Give it a minute to register on the network.

A few habits that save 90% of headaches:
1. Install before you fly. Install on Wi-Fi the day before, activate after landing. 2. Keep your home SIM as the call line. Your number stays alive for WhatsApp + 2FA codes. 3. Take a screenshot of your APN. Saves you in airports with no Wi-Fi. 4. Check device compatibility at our compatible devices page before buying. 5. Read the activation email. It really does have everything you need.

Most eSIM problems disappear with one toggle. The rest disappear with a coffee and a restart. And if you ever feel stuck, JamboSim support is one tap away - in the airport, at the beach, or halfway up a volcano. 🌋
