Short answer: is my phone eSIM compatible?

Almost every flagship phone sold since 2019 supports eSIM. On Apple that means iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and newer (plus iPhone SE 2020/2022) and most cellular iPads. On Android the eSIM supported phones list covers Google Pixel 3 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series, and selected Motorola, Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor, Nokia, Huawei and Microsoft Surface models.

One catch: your phone must be network-unlocked (not carrier-locked). If a US carrier or an operator abroad locked it, an eSIM will install but never get service.

How to check if your phone supports eSIM in 10 seconds

iPhone: Settings → General → About → scroll to "EID". If there's an EID, your iPhone has eSIM.

Android: Settings → About phone (or Network & internet → SIMs) → look for "EID" or "Download a SIM instead?".

Any phone: dial *#06# - if a long EID number appears next to your IMEI, the device is eSIM capable.

Apple iOS

eSIM compatible iPhones and iPads: works with all Dual SIM iPhones from iPhone XS onward, including iPhone SE (2020/2022), iPhone 12 and newer.

Is my phone eSIM compatible?

If your phone was launched in 2019 or later as a flagship or mid-range 5G model, it almost certainly is. Search for your exact model in the eSIM devices list above - and remember it also has to be network-unlocked.

How do I check if my phone supports eSIM?

Dial *#06# on the keypad. If an EID number shows up under your IMEI, your phone supports eSIM. You can also check Settings → General → About on iPhone, or Settings → About phone on Android, and look for "EID".

Which iPhones support eSIM?

iPhone XS, XS Max and XR and everything newer (iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 series), plus iPhone SE 2020 and 2022. The original iPhone X does not support eSIM, and Apple Watch is not supported by JamboSim.

Which Android phones support eSIM?

Google Pixel 3 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Galaxy Z Flip/Fold, Galaxy A34/A54/A55/A56 5G, Motorola Razr and Edge series, Xiaomi 12T Pro and newer, Oppo Find series, Honor Magic series, Nokia G60/X30/XR21 and Huawei P40 / Mate 40 Pro.

Does my phone need to be unlocked to use an eSIM?

Yes. A carrier-locked phone can install the eSIM profile but will not connect to a foreign network. Ask your operator for a free unlock before you travel.

My phone is on the list but I see no eSIM option - what now?

Usually it's a regional model without eSIM hardware (common with China and Japan variants), an outdated OS, or a carrier lock. Update your software, dial *#06# to confirm the EID, and check our troubleshooting guide if data still doesn't work.

Can I use an eSIM and my normal SIM at the same time?

Yes - that's the point. Keep your home SIM active for calls and texts, and set the JamboSim eSIM as your data line while you travel.
