Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia and Laos on a single eSIM, at the same prices as our Asia plan. Here is what it covers and how to set it up.
Bangkok to Hanoi. Bali to Boracay. Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap. The classic Southeast Asia trip crosses borders every few days, and most travellers still handle data the hard way: a new SIM card at every airport, a new top up shop in every town, a new number your friends do not have.
Our new JamboSim Southeast Asia plan replaces all of that with one eSIM that works in eight countries: Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia and Laos.
See the Southeast Asia plans
One eSIM, eight countries, no swapping when you cross a border:
| Country | Typical stop | | --- | --- | | Thailand | Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi, the islands | | Vietnam | Hanoi, Ha Long, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City | | Indonesia | Bali, Lombok, Java, Komodo | | Malaysia | Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Borneo | | Singapore | the layover that becomes two days | | Philippines | Manila, Palawan, Cebu, Siargao | | Cambodia | Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kampot | | Laos | Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, Vientiane |
Your phone connects to local 5G and 4G networks in each country, the same networks a local prepaid SIM would use. Nothing changes when you land somewhere new: the eSIM stays installed and simply picks up the local partner network.
No airport queues. You install the eSIM before you fly, scan the QR code once, and you have data the moment you land in the first country.
No new numbers. Your home SIM stays in the phone for calls, bank codes and messages. The eSIM handles data only.
No wasted leftovers. Buying a local SIM in every country means paying a starter fee five or six times and leaving unused gigabytes behind at every border.
No paperwork. Some countries in the region require passport registration for prepaid SIMs. An eSIM skips that entirely.
Southeast Asia uses the same bundles and the same prices as our wider Asia plan, so you pay regional rates, not tourist rates. A few examples in US dollars:
| Bundle | Price | | --- | --- | | 1 GB, 7 days | from $2.99 | | 3 GB, 30 days | from $3.99 | | 10 GB, 30 days | from $7.99 | | 20 GB, 30 days | from $10.99 | | Unlimited, 3 days | from $6.99 | | Unlimited, 30 days | from $37.99 |
There are 22 bundles in total, from three day city breaks up to 180 day stays for long term travellers, and you can top up at any time from My eSIMs if you decide to stay longer. Prices shown are indicative and in your own currency at checkout.
Unlimited plans include 3 GB of full speed data per day. After that you stay online at roughly 1 Mbps until local midnight, which is enough for maps, messaging and calls.
Southeast Asia is generous with WiFi. Hostels, cafes, coworking spots and most hotels have it, so your eSIM mostly covers the gaps: Grab and Gojek rides, maps, ferry and bus bookings, translation, and uploading photos before the boat leaves.
As a rough guide for a two to three week trip:
Light use, maps and messaging only: 3 GB to 5 GB Normal use, social media and some video: 10 GB Heavy use, hotspot for a laptop, remote work: 20 GB or unlimited
If you plan to work from Bali or Chiang Mai for a month, an unlimited plan with hotspot allowed is usually the calmer choice.
1. Buy the plan and you get a QR code by email within seconds. 2. Scan it while you still have WiFi at home. The profile downloads over WiFi, not over data. 3. Leave the eSIM switched off until you land, or activate it on arrival. 4. When you land, set the eSIM as your data line and switch data roaming on for that line only.
New to this? Read what an eSIM is and our setup guide. If something does not connect, the eSIM not working page walks through the usual suspects, which in this region is almost always data roaming switched off on the eSIM line.
Bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap, ferry from Singapore to Batam, flight from Hanoi to Manila: in every case you do nothing. Keep the eSIM as your data line, leave roaming on for it, and the phone finds a local partner network on the other side. It can take a few minutes after you switch your phone out of airplane mode, and a manual network search speeds that up if it takes longer.
Only going to one place? A country plan can be cheaper. We have dedicated pages for Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia and Laos. The Southeast Asia plan wins as soon as your trip touches two or more of them.
Heading straight for one city? Each guide has the local networks, airport tips, getting around, and the apps worth installing before you land:
Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket in Thailand Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam Bali and Jakarta in Indonesia Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia Singapore Manila and Cebu in the Philippines
All of them run on the same Southeast Asia eSIM, so one plan covers every stop.
Does the plan include calls and texts? No, it is a data plan. Your home number stays active on your physical SIM, and apps like WhatsApp calling work over the data connection.
Can I use my phone as a hotspot? Yes, hotspot is allowed on all bundles, including unlimited.
What if I stay longer than planned? Top up from My eSIMs. You keep the same eSIM and the same QR code, so there is nothing to reinstall.
Will it work on my phone? Most phones from 2018 onwards support eSIM and must be carrier unlocked. Check the list on our setup guide if you are unsure.
Do I need to register my passport? No. That requirement applies to local prepaid SIM cards in several countries in the region, not to our eSIM.
When should I install it? At home, before your flight. You need WiFi or data once to download the profile, and airport WiFi in the region can be slow.
One eSIM from Bangkok to Bali, prices at Asia level, and top ups whenever the trip stretches out.
