Is your Android phone carrier locked or ready for an eSIM?

A travel eSIM needs two things from your Android phone: no carrier lock, and eSIM support. Both take under a minute to check in Settings. ✅

In this short clip we walk through the Android menus - SIM manager and "Add eSIM" - and show what a locked device looks like when you pop in another network's SIM.

Still locked? Your home provider can normally remove the lock free of charge once your contract allows it. After that your JamboSim eSIM installs in a couple of taps.

Frequently asked

Where do I check eSIM support on Android?

Settings › Connections (or Network & internet) › SIM manager. If you see "Add eSIM" or "Download SIM instead", your phone is eSIM capable.

How do I know my Android is carrier locked?

Insert a SIM from another network. If it asks for an unlock code or shows no service, the phone is locked to your provider.

My Android is locked. Can I still use JamboSim?

Unlock it first. A locked phone can install the eSIM profile but will not connect to our partner networks abroad.
